Nothing Reveals Ear (3) Charging Case Design Ahead of September 18 Launch

Nothing has officially unveiled the full design of its upcoming Ear (3) true wireless earbuds, showcasing a revamped charging case just days before the product’s scheduled launch on September 18. The company confirmed that the new case abandons the transparent plastic frame of the 2023 Ear 2 in favour of a metallic finish, while retaining its signature transparent lid.

Build and Design

The Ear (3) line continues Nothing’s design ethos, first established with the original Ear in July 2021. The earbuds feature white silicone tips, transparent stems marked with “Ear (3)” in Nothing’s custom font, and a case bottom finished in metallic silver—likely aluminium.

According to Nothing, the Ear (3) case is constructed from 100 percent recycled anodized aluminium, a shift aimed at boosting durability and cutting down on plastic use. Metal sections now replace the clear grooves that once housed the earbuds, giving the case a more squared-off silhouette.

The earbuds themselves maintain their transparent stems but now feature visible metallic accents along their length. Reports indicate that Nothing redesigned the internal metal antenna, reducing its thickness to 0.35 mm. This redesign not only slims the earbuds’ profile but also promises improved wireless connectivity.

Nothing Ear (3) Features

A notable addition is a new “Talk” button on the front of the charging case. While the traditional pairing button remains inside the case, the function of the Talk button has not been fully disclosed. Nothing did confirm that the case now incorporates a “Super Mic,” leading industry analysts to speculate that the button could activate an external microphone for clearer voice capture in noisy environments.

Potential applications range from enhanced voice-input for AI assistants to a walkie-talkie–style intercom function between paired earbuds. Nothing has also partnered with British audio specialist KEF for the Ear (3), suggesting a step up in sound quality.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing details remain under wraps, though the Ear 2 debuted at Rs. 9,999 in India. Market watchers predict a similar launch price for the Ear (3). The Ear (3) will go on sale beginning September 18 through Nothing’s website and authorized retailers.
