
Xiaomi unveiled its new flagship Xiaomi 17 series today at a launch event held at the Beijing National Convention Centre, introducing three models — Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max — all powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Key hardware and software highlights
- Processor: All three models use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with an Adreno 840 GPU.
- Software: Ships with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
- Memory and storage: Up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM; Xiaomi 17 offers up to 512GB storage while the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max go up to 1TB UFS 4.1.
Displays and design
- Xiaomi 17: 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED, 1220 x 2656 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, up to 3500 nits peak brightness.
- Xiaomi 17 Pro: 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED with the same resolution and panel specs as the vanilla model; distinctive rectangular camera island on the rear that incorporates a secondary 2.7-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate and 3500 nits peak brightness.
- Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED, 1200 x 2608 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, up to 3500 nits peak brightness. It also has same 2.7-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate.
Cameras
All three phones feature Leica-tuned triple rear cameras with 50MP main sensors and a 50MP front-facing selfie camera. Optical zoom and aperture vary by model:
- Xiaomi 17: 50MP primary f/1.7, 50MP ultrawide f/2.4, 50MP telephoto f/2.0 with 2.6x optical zoom.
- Xiaomi 17 Pro: 50MP primary f/1.7, 50MP ultrawide f/2.4, 50MP telephoto f/3.0 with 5x optical zoom.
- Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: 50MP primary f/1.7, 50MP ultrawide f/2.4, 50MP telephoto f/2.6 with 5x optical zoom.
Video capability includes up to 8K@30fps on the rear cameras and up to 4K@60fps on the front camera.
Battery, charging and multimedia
- Batteries: Xiaomi 17 has a 7000 mAh silicon carbon battery; 17 Pro has 6300 mAh; 17 Pro Max includes a 7500 mAh silicon carbon battery.
- Charging: All models support 100W wired, 50W wireless and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.
- Audio and media: Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, HDR10+ streaming support, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio playback.
Connectivity and sensors
All three phones include USB Type-C 3.2, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and an infrared port. Security and sensors feature an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint reader, accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyroscope, compass and barometer.
Pricing and availability
Xiaomi priced the series in China starting at 4,499 yuan for the Xiaomi 17, 4,999 yuan for the Xiaomi 17 Pro, and 5,999 yuan for the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, roughly equivalent to Rs. 56,000, Rs. 62,000 and Rs. 74,500 respectively. Xiaomi has not confirmed launch timelines or pricing for India.
