Nothing Phone (3) Launched: Specs, Price and Features

Nothing has launched its most awaited smartphone – Nothing Phone (3), 2 years after the launch of its predecessor. The latest phone from Nothing is equipped with 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, 5500 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support and a triple rear camera setup comprising of 50MP and a 50MP front camera.
This time Nothing has removed the Glyph Lights and now the phone features a new Glyph Matrix interface, on the back panel at the top right corner. It consists of 489 individually controllable micro-LEDs which can show Charging Status, time, solar clock, camera preview and other alerts. you can also play some games like spin the bottle and rock-paper-scissors. There is a dedicated Glyph button on the back to control the Glyph Matrix. Nothing is also releasing a public SDK, so that people can develop their own widgets and games for the Glyph Matrix.
The starting price for Nothing Phone (3) starts from Rs. 79, 999 for 12GB/256GB and Rs. 89,999 for 16GB/512GB model
Nothing Phone (3): Features
The design of the Nothing Phone (3) is very similar to its predecessor. It has the same transparent back with grid design except there is no Glyph Light on it. The camera placement is asymmetrical which looks weird. The back panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and the frame is made up of aluminium. The phone is also IP68 Water and Dust Resistant. Overall, the phone doesn’t look that good compared to other Nothing Phones. Even Nothing Phone (3a) Pro looks better than this. Nothing should have given the Glyph Light along with the Glyph Matrix, because that looks so cool and stylish.
The phone has a 6.67” Flexible AMOLED display with 1260 x 2800 pixels (1.5K) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The display is LTPS which varies between 30Hz-120Hz refresh rate. Now other smartphone brands offer QHD+ resolution with LTPO display in this price segment. The display brightness is really good. It can go up to 1600 nits in HBM mode and up to 4500 nits in HDR Video playback. The display also supports 10-bit Colour Gamut, HDR10+ Video Playback and has 2160Hz PWM Dimming which can reduce eye strain. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the Display.
Nothing Phone (3) is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Chipset which has an Octa Core CPU with up to 3.21GHz Speed, Adreno 825 and Hexagon NPU for AI tasks. It’s a major upgrade compared to Nothing Phone (2), but it’s not the most powerful in its price segment. Most Android phones in this price come with Snapdragon 8 Elite which is much more powerful chipset compared to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
iQOO Neo 10 and POCO F7 also provides Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 which cost less than Rs. 35,000 and iQOO 13 has Snapdragon 8 Elite which costs Rs. 55,000. So, why Nothing is giving an upper-mid-range chip on a Rs. 79,999 phone? Nothing is charging a premium price for a not so premium chip. Anyway, the base variant of this phone comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 Storage and the upper variant has 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Talking about the software the Nothing Phone (3) comes with Nothing OS 3.5 on top of Android 15. Nothing has promised for 5 years of major updates and 7 years of security updates. The OS is clean, minimal and free from bloatware.
The Nothing OS 3.5 has some interesting features – Essential Search which can be used to search files, photos, contacts etc. Essential Space is a central place for your contents, notes, to dos etc. and Flip to Record is a feature to record, transcribe and summarize conversations and meetings.
This phone has a 50MP + 50MP + 50MP triple camera setup. The 50MP main camera comes with f/1.68 aperture, 1/1.3” OmniVision OV50H sensor and has OIS. The 50MP Periscope Telephoto camera can take 3X optical zoom shots, digitally zoom up to 60X, can take macro shots from 10 centimetre, has OIS and the sensor is Samsung JN5. The third one is an ultra-wide 50MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, 114o field of view and 1/2.75” Samsung JN1 sensor. Third sensor has no OIS.
Nothing Phone (3) packs with a 5500 mAh Silicon Carbon battery with 65W Wired charging which can fully charge the phone in 54 minutes. The phone also supports 15W Wireless, 7.5W Reverse Wired and 5W Reverse Wireless charging. Nothing should have given at least a 6000 mAh battery as it has a silicon carbon battery. Because all other phones are providing bigger batteries with 6000 mAh, 6500 mAh some are giving even bigger ones.
This phone supports dual SIM (Nano + eSIM), 360o Antenna and comes with 10 5G bands. It comes with latest Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC. It also supports GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS and NavlC for positioning.
For media consumption Nothing Phone (3) has dual stereo speakers, two high-definition microphones and supports HDR10+ videos.
For security it has an optical fingerprint sensor under the display. Other phones in this price offers ultrasonic sensor. So, Nothing should have given an ultrasonic one, because its faster and more secure. It comes with other necessary sensors – Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Compass and Gyroscope.
