OnePlus 15 design and Sand Storm colour revealed ahead of October China launch

OnePlus has revealed the design and a new premium colour variant for the upcoming OnePlus 15, confirming the phone will debut next month in China and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

Design and Sand Storm finish

OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 15 in a new Sand Storm colour that uses an industry-first micro-arc oxidation treatment for the aluminium frame. The company says the high-voltage plasma process forges a ceramic coating directly on the metal, producing a surface it claims is 3.4 times harder than raw aluminium and 1.3 times tougher than titanium. The back panel uses a fibre‑glass material with a smooth texture and the overall build appears slightly thicker in recent in‑hand images shared by tipsters.

Camera module and layout

The OnePlus 15 departs from the brand’s circular camera module in favour of a square-shaped island with curved edges. The rear houses three camera lenses plus an LED flash; rumours indicate a triple 50MP setup — primary, ultrawide and a telephoto with 3x optical zoom. A new Plus key is positioned on the left side of the frame while the volume and power buttons sit on the right. The front shows slimmer bezels for a more immersive viewing experience.

Battery, display and performance

Speculation around core hardware includes a large 7300 mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The display is said to be a 165Hz OLED panel. OnePlus has confirmed the device will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, positioning the phone as the company’s next-generation flagship.

Software and updates

The OnePlus 15 is expected to ship with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 and may receive up to five years of OS updates and six years of security patches.

Storage, colours and launch timing

Tipsters report multiple memory and storage configurations up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. In addition to Sand Storm, OnePlus may offer Mist Purple and Absolute Black colour options. The OnePlus 15 will first launch in China next month; an India launch is likely delayed until January 2026.
