Vivo launches OriginOS 6 and BlueOS 3 with Android 16, new design and expanded AI features

Vivo officially unveiled OriginOS 6 in China on Friday, alongside BlueOS 3 for its smartwatches. Built on Android 16, the new OriginOS will debut on the Vivo X300 Pro, Vivo X300 and iQOO 15 and then reach older models in a staged rollout running from November 2025 through May 2026.

Visual redesign and new interaction elements

OriginOS 6 introduces a refreshed interface that reworks the home screen, lock screen and app presentations. Key visual changes include circular app icons, curved-edge widgets, progressive blur effects and flexible clock placement via a modular Huarong Grid on the lock screen. A dynamic, resizable clock widget automatically adjusts when notifications appear, and Mirror Screen Effects change visual appearance with viewing angle.

A new element called “Atomic Island” provides quick-access controls for music, timers and similar functions, echoing the concept of Apple’s Dynamic Island. Interface motion is smoothed by Elastic Motion Effects, Frame Morphing and Frame Blur, while Seamless Transitions aim to maintain continuous flow between apps.

OriginOS 6 Features

Performance: Blue River Smooth Engine

Vivo says OriginOS 6 is powered by a new Blue River Smooth Engine designed to deliver consistent fluency and responsiveness through a lightweight architecture and dual-rendering frameworks.

  • Dual-Path Rendering Architecture: Fuses app and server inputs at the GPU to improve frame stability and rendering efficiency.
  • Super Core Architecture: Speeds app launches and sequential multi-app launches.
  • Photonic Architecture: Optimizes CPU cache, RAM and storage to accelerate heavy-load data and improve memory recovery.

Vivo positions the stack to maintain responsiveness even under heavy multitasking and demanding workloads.

New AI features for photos, search and system tasks

OriginOS 6 adds a suite of AI-powered tools across Vivo and iQOO devices:

  • AI Photo Cleanup: Removes unwanted objects from Live Photos.
  • Scene Intelligence 2.0: Optimizes battery use in video calls, short-video playback and gaming.
  • Xiao V Circle Search 2.0: Detects on-screen links, products and addresses.
  • Little V Memory 2.0: Captures and organizes screen content with contextual links.
  • vivo Input Method and AI Search: Support predictive typing and conversational queries.
  • Instant Ticketing Engine: Speeds booking for events and travel.

Cross-device features and continuity

OriginOS 6 expands cross-device integration with vivo Office Suite for fast file sharing between phones, PCs and the web, and Cross-Ecosystem Group Sharing that enables high-resolution photo transfers by shaking devices. The system adds iPad connectivity for app continuity, Small Window 2.0 for car integration, Global Direct Power Supply 2.0 and Micro Power Genie 2.0 for stable power handoff and immediate task resumption, and System Lightweight 3.0 to extend standby times.

Wellbeing, accessibility and security

OriginOS 6 introduces AI-driven wellbeing features such as Eye Comfort Mode with fatigue detection and AI Sleep Mode that reduces blue light exposure. Dynamic Vision Assistance aims to reduce motion blur during movement. Accessibility additions include Clear Voice Enhancement and Bluetooth hearing aid integration.

On security, Vivo implements a CHAD full-stack AI security framework that spans chip, device, cloud and model layers and states compliance with CAICT AI security requirements. The vivo X100 series is cited as the first to receive that certification. Additional third-party certifications from organizations including DNV, Common Criteria, UL and ioXt are reported.

System changes and functional refinements

The update also brings a variety of system and usability improvements:

  • Lock screen and desktop: tactical mode toggle, classic clock styles, folder and layer management.
  • Theme and control centre: new visual themes, unified media controls, improved drag-and-drop.
  • Mobile manager and privacy: power usage dashboard, intelligent app control, enhanced privacy tools.
  • Multi-device interconnection: print collaboration support.
  • System: refreshed startup guide and overall stability and responsiveness improvements.

BlueOS 3 for smartwatches

Vivo introduced BlueOS 3 alongside OriginOS 6. The smartwatch OS will enter public beta on November 3 for the Vivo Watch 5 and iQOO Watch 5 (Wi‑Fi and Cellular). Vivo claims BlueOS 3 can deliver significantly extended battery life on some models, with the Vivo Watch GT 2 reportedly able to reach up to 33 days under specific conditions. BlueOS 3 also brings new always‑on faces, improved animations, personalized app suggestions and Blue Heart V calling support.
