Apple and Issey Miyake launch limited‑edition iPhone Pocket

Apple, in collaboration with designer Issey Miyake, has unveiled a limited‑edition accessory called the iPhone Pocket, a knitted carrying pouch designed to hold an iPhone and small everyday items. Crafted in Japan by Issey Miyake Design Studio, the piece is inspired by the idea of “a piece of cloth” and features a 3D knitted construction with a ribbed open structure that Apple says echoes the studio’s signature pleats.

Design and functionality

The iPhone Pocket is built to accommodate any iPhone from the iPhone 8 onward and can also hold AirPods and other small essentials. It can be worn as a sling over the shoulder, carried on the wrist, or attached to a handbag. Apple describes the accessory as combining fashion and utility through its flexible, textile construction.

Colours and pricing

The short‑strap version is offered in eight muted colours: lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black. The long‑strap option is available in sapphire, cinnamon, and black. The short strap is priced at $149.95 and the long strap at $229.95, which Apple lists as roughly Rs 15,400 and Rs 23,600 respectively.

Availability

Apple has labelled the iPhone Pocket a special edition release. It will go on sale beginning November 14 at select Apple Stores in France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and the US.

Context

The collaboration with Issey Miyake recalls the studio’s long history in fashion, including the black turtlenecks associated with Steve Jobs. The iPhone Pocket follows a pattern of premium and unconventional Apple accessories, from the multi‑coloured iPod Socks introduced in 2004 to the off‑white Apple Polishing Cloth released in recent years.
