
Apple has released iOS 26 Public Beta 5 for iPhone, arriving shortly after the rollout of iOS 26 Developer Beta 8. The new public beta mirrors many fixes introduced in the developer build and accompanies the launch of iPadOS 26 Public Beta 5 and matching updates for other Apple devices.
What’s New in Public Beta 5
- A recovery assistant to restore iPhones that fail to start normally
- Fix for a low-battery symbol error affecting some iPhone 15 and 16 models after updating to iOS 26 Beta 1
- Correction of an AppIntents compilation error
- Patch for the mode selection picker remaining expanded after launch on iPhone
- Resolution of Apple Intelligence image modifier bug for Japanese-language users in Image Playground and Genmoji
- Additional bug fixes for Apple TV app, Bluetooth, Camera, CarPlay, Game Mode, HealthKit, lock screen, Messages, Siri, and Weather
Availability and Installation
The iOS 26 Public Beta 5 update is available now to registered Apple developers and participants in Apple’s Beta Software Program. Compatible devices include iPhone XS and later models. To install, users can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and tap Install Now.
Looking Ahead
With iOS 26 Developer Beta 8 likely the final pre-release build—Apple typically completes its beta cycle with eight iterations—the stable version of iOS 26 is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 17 series, rumoured for a September 9 launch.
