Oppo Find X7 Ultra Review

The Oppo Find X7 Ultra marks the first time Oppo has tagged “Ultra” onto one of its flagship models, and it more than lives up to the name. Inside the premium packaging, you’ll find the phone itself, a simple rubberized protective case (which, admittedly, doesn’t match the phone’s aesthetic), a hefty 10 A USB-C cable, and a 100W SuperVOOC rapid charger.

Pricing and Availability

Launched in China at CNY 5,999—around $840 or Rs. 70,000—the Find X7 Ultra retains the same entry price as its predecessor despite a host of substantial upgrades. As of now, Oppo hasn’t announced a global release, so it remains a China-exclusive offering.

Rear Camera System

Oppo’s boldest innovation here is the dual periscope setup, housed in an oversized “cosmos ring” module that echoes aperture rings on professional lenses. Key points:

  • Cosmos Ring Design
    • Aerospace-grade stainless steel construction
    • Starlight track etched around the rim
    • Flash relocated outside the lens array
  • Quad-Lens Array
    • Main: 1 inch Sony LYT-900 sensor (2nd-gen) with OIS
    • Ultra-wide: 50 MP Sony LYT-600, 123° field of view, excellent for macros
    • Telephoto 1: Sony IMX 890 periscope, 3× optical zoom with OIS
    • Telephoto 2: Sony IMX 858 periscope, 6× optical zoom with OIS
  • Hyper Tone Imaging Engine
    • Reduces lens flare by 50%
    • Avoids harsh HDR artifacts and oversharpening for lifelike colors

Photography and Zoom

Oppo’s enhancements shine across every focal length:

  • One-Time Shot
    • Both main and ultra-wide deliver flagship-level detail at native resolution
    • Ultra-wide nearly matches the clarity of the main lens
  • Optical and Lossless Zoom
    • Crisp 3× and 6× captures with matched color and exposure
    • 12× lossless zoom outperforms most rivals
    • AI-assisted zoom extends up to 30× with astonishing detail
    • Usable 60× and even 120× digital zoom without fully collapsing into blur
  • Portraits and Macro
    • Portrait mode works with all three zoom lenses—main produces full-body shots with superb edge detection; periscopes offer DSLR-style framing at 100 mm
    • Ultra-wide and periscopes support macro shooting thanks to short minimum focus distances, creating natural background blur

Video Capabilities

The Find X7 Ultra’s video toolkit is equally versatile:

  • Continuous 4K 30 FPS
    • Seamlessly switch between ultra-wide, main, 3×, and 6× lenses up to 18× digital zoom in one clip
    • Note: 60 FPS seamless switching is not supported
  • Periscope Video
    • Both 3× and 6× lenses record 4K 60 FPS with impressive stabilization—even when walking
    • Nighttime recording remains bright, a rarity for periscope modules
  • Ultra-Steady Mode
    • 1080p 60 FPS on ultra-wide and main cameras for shake-free footage during vigorous movement
  • Formats and Features
    • Main camera supports Dolby Vision at 4K 60 FPS
    • Slow-motion options are respectable but not industry-leading
    • No 8K recording available

Low-Light and Night Performance

In dim environments, the Find X7 Ultra continues to excel:

  • Night Photos
    • Main, ultra-wide, and both periscopes control noise well and maintain tonal consistency
    • Portraits at night show strong edge detection and natural exposure, especially on the main and 3× lenses
  • Night Video
    • Main and ultra-wide capture vivid 4K 60 FPS clips
    • Periscopes stay surprisingly bright, though detail dips slightly after sunset
  • AI and Specialty Modes
    • Super Moon mode shines at 30×, with usable results up to 100×
    • Astro mode brightens stars; exclusive Astro Portrait isolates the subject against a vivid night sky

With its four flagship-grade sensors delivering consistently matched color, exposure, and clarity, the Oppo Find X7 Ultra sets a new benchmark for smartphone photography. The colossal camera island isn’t just for show—it backs up every zoom level, macro, and low-light scenario with top-tier performance.

Build and Design

Oppo’s Find X7 Ultra now comes in three leather-and-glass finishes: Tailored Black (the only one with visible stitching), Sepia Brown, and Ocean Blue. The Ocean Blue model I tested pairs a glossy white upper panel with soft vegan leather covering most of the back. Silver accents around the camera module blend seamlessly into the aluminium frame, which curves gently at the edges.

  • Dimensions and Materials
    • Thickness remains 9.5 mm, unchanged from last year
    • Weight: 221 g, a bit heavier than its predecessor
    • Side rails: Glossy aluminium
    • Back: Dual-tone glass and vegan leather
  • Durability
    • IP68 rating for dust and water resistance
    • Front protection: Gorilla Glass Victus 2
    • Slim, symmetrical bezels around the display

Selfie Camera

At the top-centre of the screen sits a punch-hole cutout that now houses a 32 MP Sony LYT-506 sensor with autofocus.

  • Focal Lengths
    • Native 21 mm captures expansive scenes
    • Cropped 25 mm option for tighter portraits
  • Photo and Video Quality
    • Exceptional detail and near-perfect edge detection in both standard and portrait shots
    • True 4K 60 FPS selfie video—an industry first for Oppo flagships
    • Portrait video available at 1080p 30 FPS
    • Strong low-light performance; stills pop with the on-screen flash

Oppo leads the pack by offering full 4K 60 FPS recording on the front camera, elevating its selfie game above other brands pushing only 4K 30 FPS.

Display

The Find X7 Ultra borrows the same 6.82 in Pro XDR 10-bit AMOLED used by the OnePlus 12, delivering QHD+ resolution and covering 100% of DCI-P3. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and Widevine L1 content.

  • Refresh and Touch
    • LTPO panel: 1Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh
    • 240Hz touch sampling
    • PWM dimming at 2160 Hz
  • Peak Brightness
    • Local peak reaches an astonishing 4,500 nits for unbeatable outdoor visibility

Software

Running ColorOS 14 atop Android 14 (Chinese ROM), the Find X7 Ultra ships with the Google Play Store pre-installed, though Google Discover is replaced by Oppo’s Quick Glance.

  • AI and Utilities
    • Breeno assistant with AndesGPT integration
    • Gallery edits: background removal, object erasing
    • Article summarization in supported browsers (currently not in English)
  • UI and Features
    • Nearly identical look and feel to ColorOS 13—clean, fluid, and visually appealing
    • New three-position alert slider:
      • Bottom for ringtone
      • Middle for silent
      • Top enables “VIP mode,” a privacy-focused setting

Overall, ColorOS 14 refines Oppo’s established design without overhauling it, adding helpful AI tools and the long-awaited alert slider for quick sound and privacy control.

Battery and Charging

The Find X7 Ultra sticks with the same 5000 mAh cell and charging speeds you’ve come to expect from Oppo flagships: 100W wired SuperVOOC, 50W wireless, plus 10W reverse wireless. In other words, battery life remains solid, and you can refill the pack or top up your earbuds in no time.

Performance and Gaming

Under the hood, the X7 Ultra now runs Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Flip on Oppo’s High-Performance mode in the settings, and the handset floods benchmark charts with top scores. Real-world use is equally impressive: the Game Hub overlay lets you tweak performance profiles, monitor FPS, and block distractions. In demanding titles like Genshin Impact at max graphics, it holds a rock-steady 60 FPS. Switch to Call of Duty Mobile’s Ultra-FPS preset, and it rockets up to a flawless 120 FPS with zero stutters.

Connectivity and Extras

As a true flagship, the Find X7 Ultra covers every modern wireless standard: Bluetooth 5.4, NFC for contactless payments, dual-SIM 5G, and the latest Wi-Fi 7. Wired I/O includes USB 3.2 Gen 1 over Type-C, plus you get an IR blaster for controlling home electronics. The updated O-Haptics system delivers crisp, customizable vibrations, and dual stereo speakers pump out spatial audio with Dolby Atmos support.

Final Thughts

Oppo has earned the “Ultra” label in every sense. You get blistering performance thanks to Snapdragon’s Gen 3 silicon, an ultra-vivid display, and finally a front camera capable of 4K 60 FPS selfies. But the real showstopper is the quad-camera array on the back—its mix of flagship sensors, dual periscopes, and next-gen processing delivers some of the best photos and videos you’ll find on any smartphone. If you live for photography, the X7 Ultra’s camera package alone makes a compelling case to import the China model and embrace its native ROM.
